Pregnancy Tests

Confirm you’re really pregnant with a lab-grade pregnancy test performed by a licensed medical professional.

How Do Pregnancy Tests Work?

We provide medical-grade urine pregnancy tests at no cost to you. When a woman becomes pregnant, her body begins rapidly producing the pregnancy hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).

A medical-grade pregnancy test can detect the hCG hormone in a woman’s urine around 12 or 14 days after conception. If the test result is positive, it detected hCG, and the woman is pregnant.

Can I Take An At-Home Pregnancy Test?

Over-the-counter pregnancy tests are reliable, but some tests are more sensitive than others. If you use an at-home pregnancy test, we suggest taking it a couple of days after your missed period.

If you want accurate results earlier, come to Sienna Women’s Health. We welcome walk-ins for pregnancy tests Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

What If My Pregnancy Test Comes Back Positive?

A positive pregnancy test is only part of the picture. You need more information about your pregnancy—news you can only receive from an ultrasound.

Ultrasound

Up to 1 in 5 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Ultrasound reveals specific information about your pregnancy. An ultrasound confirms if your pregnancy is developing. Our sonographer can detect an audible heartbeat or determine if you’ve miscarried.

You also learn how many days you’ve been pregnant and the location of your pregnancy. The location determines whether the pregnancy is safe for your health.

Confirm your pregnancy is viable and not miscarrying so you can know if you even have to worry about making a decision at all. If your pregnancy is viable, we’ll confirm your gestational age, so you know what your options are moving forward. Make an appointment for a no-cost limited ultrasound at Sienna Women’s Health.
